Recommended annual blood tests. Part-1

Hi everyone, it'll be a series. Which are the test we can do in the annually. In this series a particularly I will talk about a specific disease and test require for confirmation of that disease. I am going to discuss in this series about very important and common blood tests.

So todays blog I'll try to explain about explain about blood test require for confirmation of diabetes.
Primary symptoms of diabetes:
It is a condition where lack of insulin activities increase the blood glucose levels.
Primary symptoms-
1. Frequently urination.
2. Increase in hunger.
3. Thrust.
4. Blurred vision.
5. Fatigue.
6. Weight loss.

If someone is showing any of these symptoms it doesn't mean that he or she suffering from diabetes. For the confirmation we require a proper guidance of doctors and tests.

List of confirmatory tests:

1. The most common test for that is fasting blood sugar and postprandial blood sugar. A cheap and primary test for diagnosis of blood glucose. In these test we monitor empty stomach blood glucose levels and after 2hr of meal increase level of blood glucose. Normal blood glucose levels in healthy individual is in fasting 75-110 mg/dl and postprandial 80-140 mg/dl. If any of the blood glucose levels are abnormal then we have to correlate with physical condition and have to consider farther diagnosis. This abnormal levels of blood glucose can be diagnose due to over consumption of carbohydrate diet.

2. OGTT (oral glucose tolerance test) is considered as confirmatory test. For the test patient have to prepare them selves, like have to consume rich carbohydrate diet for continuous 3 days before the test, because in this test we correlate with carbohydrate metabolism. In the beginning of the test patients have to be in overnight fasting stage (10 hr fasting). With empty stomach blood patient also have to provide urine sample along with that. After after that patient have to consume 75 g of glucose dissolve in 300 ml of water, and patient have to finish it within 5 minutes. After the consumption of glucose solution for every half an hour patient have to provide blood along with urine sample till 2 hours. If all blood glucose levels stay remain in between 75-110 mg/dl(fasting) and 140mg/dl (postprandial) it's normal, if the blood glucose levels are 110-126mg/dl (fasting) and 140-200 mg/dl(Postprandial) is considered as prediabetic. In the prediabetic condition slowly patient will develop diabetes( estimated 2% per year). Blood glucose level is more than 126 mg/dl(fasting) and 200mg/dl is considered as diabetes.

3. Random blood glucose also consider as diabetes diagnosis test. In this test patient improve blood anytime of the day. In this test also blood glucose levels 75-140mg/dl normal, between 140-200mg/dl prediabetic and more than 200mg/dl is consider as diabetes.

4. Urine test (glucose) is also consider as indicator along with blood test. Here we measure the presence of glucose in urine. We indicate the intensity by these words absent, trace, +, ++, +++. Absent indicate absence of glucose in urine, trace means low level of glucose present in urine, and this "+" show intensity gradually.

5. HbA1c or glycated hemoglobin is one of the most reliable test for the diagnosis of diabetic condition. In this test anytime patient can provide the blood sample. This test is more reliable compared to others because it shows last 3 months average blood glucose levels in our body. If the blood glucose level is 6% it's normal, between 6- 6.4% prediabetic and more than 6.5% consider as diabetic patient.

Thank you guys. I'll talk about more about different test in the next part of this series. Follow and share.
